Garden Helpr ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use the Garden Helpr mobile application ("the App") and our website at gardenhelpr.com ("the Website").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account information: email address and display name when you create an account or join our waitlist
• Plant and garden data: plant names, species, zones (rooms and outdoor areas), care logs (Checked/Watered actions), observations, and notes you add to the App
• Photos: images you upload of your plants for identification, diagnosis, or tracking purposes
• Location: city or postcode you provide during onboarding, used to determine your local climate zone and weather conditions

Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data: how you interact with the App, including features used, check-in frequency, and session duration
• Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version
• Crash and performance data: error logs to help us identify and fix issues

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect precise GPS location. We use the city or postcode you provide voluntarily.
• We do not access your device's contacts, calendar, microphone, or files.
• We do not collect payment or financial information (see Subscriptions & Payments below).

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide personalised plant care guidance based on your plants, zones, and local climate
• Deliver daily check-in prompts and adaptive care reminders
• Generate seasonal intelligence and weather-aware watering recommendations
• Process plant identification and health diagnosis requests
• Track your care history and generate care insights
• Send you relevant notifications (care reminders, seasonal alerts, weather warnings)
• Improve and develop the App's features and accuracy
• Communicate with you about updates, new features, and support requests
• Ensure the App functions correctly and diagnose technical issues

Third-Party Services

Garden Helpr uses the following third-party services to deliver its features. When your data is shared with these services, it is limited to what is necessary for the specific function.

Plant Identification & Diagnosis — Kindwise (Plant.id)

When you use the Plant ID scanner or disease diagnosis feature, your plant photos are sent to Kindwise (Plant.id) for processing. Kindwise returns species identification, care information, and/or health assessments. Photos are processed for identification purposes and are subject to Kindwise's privacy policy.

AI-Powered Care Recommendations — OpenAI

Plant care recommendations and companion planting guidance are generated using OpenAI's API. We send plant species data and zone information (not your personal details or photos) to generate care advice. Data sent to OpenAI is subject to OpenAI's API data usage policy.

Weather Data — OpenWeatherMap & Open-Meteo

We use OpenWeatherMap and the Open-Meteo Historical Archive API to provide weather-aware care guidance, frost alerts, and seasonal intelligence. We share your general location (city-level, not precise coordinates) with these services to retrieve local weather data. See OpenWeatherMap's privacy policy and Open-Meteo's terms.

Data Storage & Authentication — Supabase

Your account data, plant data, care logs, and app settings are stored securely on Supabase's cloud infrastructure. Supabase provides our database, user authentication, and server-side functions. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. See Supabase's privacy policy.

Subscription Management — RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous user ID and subscription transaction data from the App Store. It does not receive your name, email, or personal details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Email Communications — Loops.so

If you subscribe to our email updates or create an account, we use Loops.so to send transactional and marketing emails. Your email address and first name (if provided) are shared with Loops.so for this purpose. You can unsubscribe at any time. See Loops.so's privacy policy.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools to understand how the App is used in aggregate. Analytics data is anonymised and cannot be used to identify individual users.

Subscriptions & Payments

Garden Helpr offers a Premium subscription billed at $7.99/month or $56.99/year through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We never receive, store, or have access to your payment card details, bank account information, or Apple ID credentials. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status (active, expired, or cancelled) via RevenueCat.

Data Storage & Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information:

• All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL
• Data at rest is encrypted on Supabase's infrastructure
• Authentication is handled via secure token-based sessions
• We follow the principle of least privilege for internal data access

While we take reasonable precautions, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

• Active accounts: your data is retained for as long as your account is active
• Deleted accounts: when you request account deletion, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage data may be retained for analytics purposes
• Plant photos sent to third-party services: photos sent to Kindwise (Plant.id) for identification or diagnosis are processed and may be retained by Kindwise in accordance with their privacy policy. We do not store your photos on our servers beyond what is needed to display them in your plant timeline
• Email marketing: if you unsubscribe, your email is removed from active mailing lists within 7 days. It may be retained on a suppression list to ensure we do not contact you again

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data
• Data portability: request your data in a machine-readable format
• Opt out of marketing: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email
• Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time

For Users in the European Economic Area (EEA)

Garden Helpr is operated by a Luxembourg-based entity. We process your data under the following legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the App's services), legitimate interest (improving the App, ensuring security), and consent (marketing communications). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy

Garden Helpr is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@gardenhelpr.com and we will delete the information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
